Toronto Raptors - They're on Fire
Since trading Rudy Gray to the Kings, the Toronto Raptors has been bringing the heat, continually impressing with their back-to-back wins and still leaving favorable impressions with their near misses.
Philadelphia 76ers' Fall from Grace
What in the world happened to the 76ers? This week was an embarrassing week for them, losing all four games with double-digit losses that caused them an average of 113 points. After the phenomenal winning streak last week that landed Philadelphia consecutive victories against the L.A. Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings and Portland Pilots, one can only wonder what happened to their defense?
Perhaps this week will afford them the opportunity to make a comeback as they come up against the Charlotte Bobcats and Miami Heat at home, then hit the road to face it off with the Chicago Bulls.
Detroit Pistons' Timely Comeback
The Detroit Pistons had a busy and very entertaining week as they dropped three straight games, losing 112 points to the Raptors and Grizzlies. While their open stretch lacked luster, they went into offense overdrive for the last two games of the week. Averaging 112 points, the Pistons were able to pull off two victories back to back, trumping the Philadelphia 76ers and beating the Phoenix Suns.
Now with a six-day rest period, Detroit will be able to recoup and brush up on strategy before opening the next week with consecutive games against Utah Jazz and against the Washington Wizards.
Big Defensive Play - New York Knicks
Concerning effective offense for this season, the New York Knicks has struggled sometimes embarrassingly bad with superstar NBA player Carmelo Anthony unable to make a slew of shots whenever shaky guard, Andrea Bargnani, is on the court. However, last week, the Knicks were able to deliver enough defense that they kept all four of their games under 93 points, a serious improvement that the Knicks badly needed to turn this season in a more positive direction.
In the upcoming four-game week, the Knicks will have a chance to prove their progress in two home games, first with Phoenix then with the Clippers, and two road games with Charlotte and Indiana.
Colorado has renewed faith in the Denver Nuggets as their impressive winning streak shows that the team still has plenty of fight left in them yet. While winning five consecutive games is a feat worthy of applause, it will be interesting to see how things will play out on the court for the next five games.
Earlier in the season, Denver was beaten by all five of their upcoming opponents. Their schedule for this week is a milder one. They'll hit the road to go against the Utah Jazz, then follow up with a game against the Golden State Warriors. Finally, they will close out the week with a home court advantage against Cleveland.
