The 49ers traveled to Lambeau Field with a superior record (12-4) compared to their opponent, the Packers (8-7-1) . Nevertheless, with quarterback Aaron Rodgers controlling the offensive game for Green Bay, anything was possible. The 49ers managed to endure the cold, thanks in part to the play of their quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who had watched the previous day as his old teammate Alex Smith suffered an agonizing defeat by only one point to the Indianapolis Colts.
In one of the more exciting match ups of the weekend, the Kansas City Chiefs dominated most of the game against the Colts, producing a massive lead by the close of the third quarter. The dogged Colts, however, refused to give up or surrender and successfully rallied back to defeat Alex Smith and his team by a single point, the final score being 45-44.
The Colts have a difficult battle ahead of them as they travel to Foxboro to face off against the Patriots. Experts agree that if the Indianapolis franchise gives up as many points next week as they did against the Kansas City Chiefs, they have little hope of prevailing in the match.
In divisional match ups, the Broncos will host the Chargers on their home field in Denver while the Colts face off against the Pats in New England. The Saints will look to continue their winning streak against the Seahawks while the 49ers travel to Carolina to play against the Panthers.
