The Suns just scored a huge win when they defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night. The Suns are currently in playoff position, having inched ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies in a tight race for the eighth and final playoff spot. The Suns could face the Spurs in the first round of the playoffs. San Antonio is in the first spot in the West and will likely hold onto the top seed in the conference. The Spurs do know that Tony Parker, who suffered back spasms over the weekend, might not play. This is something the Suns could take advantage of. They might need to if they want to go to the playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors have been picking up some important victories in recent weeks to shore up their playoff position. Golden State is sixth in the West, just a little bit ahead of Dallas in the race for playoff seeds. It’s not as though Golden State is getting a sweet deal by chasing down the sixth seed. The Los Angeles Clippers are the third seed, creating a very tough matchup. However, the alternative to playing the Clippers is Oklahoma City, so Golden State has reason to want to hold off Dallas for that sixth position. The Warriors will try to increase their odds of getting the sixth seed by beating Portland, the fifth-place team in the West.
The Memphis Grizzlies are running out of time and opportunities. The team that was once 10-15 and floundering has regrouped to make itself part of the playoff hunt. However, there are fears among the coaching staff and within the organization that the Grizzlies have worked too hard over the past 50 games, leaving the team spent just when it needs to continue to make a push at a playoff berth. The Grizzlies fell flat in San Antonio this past Sunday, even though the Spurs were without Tony Parker. Memphis has to be able to shoot better and play through exhaustion. We’ll see if the Grizzlies can handle the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.
