The over looked like a solid bet going in as it had cashed in for all 4 of the last games the Blackhawks played in the Western Conference Final. The Lightning too, had been involved in their fair share of over results too; having cashed in on the over in 4 of their 7 Eastern Conference Finals games.
The first game really set the tone for the rest of the games to be played over the two weeks of the finals. Game 1 came in well under at a final score of 2-1 to the Blackhawks who had the home ice advantage.
At this point, with 3 for 3 under results between these two, the consensus shifted in favour of the under result for game two. In true sporting fashion, the game comes in well over in a final result of 3-4 to the Lightning. Evening up the score after 2 games.
Game 3 brought things back to the equilibrium where many people had hoped it would be – the under result. Only just creeping under this time; the score finishing at 3-2 to the Lightning (the under, of course, set at 5.5 by the sportsbooks).
Moving forward to game 4 in the United Center on June 10th and the Lightning are up 2-1, with the home ice advantage. For the Blackhawks, there was everything to play for. Maybe that would be conducive to an over result? Fortunately, for those that were still on the under, this was not the case – 2 – 1 Blackhawks. Yet another under result! 3 and 1 for the under after 4 games.
The 5th game also brings a narrow 2-1 victory for the Blackhawks and extends the run of under results to 4 and 1. The 6th game of this year’s Stanley Cup finals seals the victory for the Blackhawks with a 2-0 win. A 4th straight under result in the Finals and leaving the final tally for under results to be 5 out of 6 games.
